There’s the Johnny Cash lyric, “Driving fancy cars and smoking big cigars.”
I think about that sometimes when I see an insurance agency get sold.
The owners do the deal, everybody shakes hands and maybe nothing looks different right away. But a year or two down the road, the client can start noticing changes.
There are fewer people around, service takes longer, and you need a certificate and can’t get anybody on the phone. The person who knew your account isn’t there anymore.
That’s the part of these deals I pay attention to.
An agency sale doesn’t automatically mean the service is going to suffer, but if your agency has been acquired, I’d watch what happens to the relationship you had before the sale.
Can you still get somebody on the phone? Does your advisor still know your business? Are you getting the same attention you were getting before?
At Webb, we’ve always been willing to work with smaller accounts. I like working with good people who’ll listen to our advice, even if they don’t always take it.
Insurance is still a relationship business to me.
If your agency was recently sold and you’re wondering whether the relationship has changed, DM 💬 me. I’m happy to talk it through with you.
